GBS Prüfpuls rev3 Pulse Generator for Long-term Insulation Tests

The Prüfpuls setup is designed for long-term insulation testing of test specimens with up to 6 nF capacitance.

Converter for High-voltage Test Transformer

· Internal sine wave generator: 50-200Hz
· Pulse width modulation of the sine wave at 16-24kHz via full bridge
· Converter voltage adjustable from 0-600V, Imax = 2.6A, maximum output: 1.3kW
· Pulse current limitation: 110A (cut-off threshold)

Pulse Transformer – Control

· Full-bridge control
· Full-bridge power supply adjustable 0-1000V, max. 1.3A
· Pulse current limitation: 100A (cut-off threshold)
· Pulse width: 20-120μs, nominal 94μs, adjustable
· Two selectable series inductances: 150μH, 300μH to adapt pulse width and rise time to load capacitance and voltage
· Pulse repetition frequency: 0.1 – 2.5 kHz, adjustable
· Polarity: Selectable as positive, negative or alternating, depending on sine wave signal polarity
· Cosine-shaped pulse at transformer output

Pulse Transformer Cascade

· Output transformers in 5-stage cascaded configuration
· Overall transformation ratio selectable as 1:7.7, 1:10, or 1:15 via taps
· Maximum output voltage: 15kV for load capacitances of:
* 6nF with pulse width of 73μs at 2.5kHz repetition rate
* 10nF with pulse width of 103μs at 1.25kHz repetition rate
· 1:1000 voltage divider in parallel
· Overvoltage protection at approx. 20-23 kV via parallel spark gaps
· Thermistor for overtemperature detection in the first transformer stage
· Ground-side current measurement socket 100 mV/A

· If the maximum bridge currents for transformer control or the maximum currents of the bridge power supplies are exceeded, the high voltage is switched off
· The device is equipped with a resettable hour meter to record testing duration
