Description / Scope of Functions
A DSC is used for the thermal analysis of materials. It measures the heat flow that occurs during physical or chemical processes in a sample while it is being heated or cooled in a controlled manner. The device can be used to analyze, among other things, the following material properties:
- Melting and solidification temperatures
- Glass transition temperatures (Tg)
- Crystallization
- Phase transitions
- Reaction enthalpies
- Heat capacity
- Purity determination of substances
