The Reitruder technology operates with co-rotating screws. We have adapted this twin-screw technology for use in direct extrusion lines—primarily for inline compounding. This combines several process steps into just one.

Our twin-screw Reitruder technology handles high proportions of additives and fillers. Instead of pre-mixed compounds, fillers such as calcium carbonate or talcum are continuously added. Direct extrusion also reduces energy costs compared to the two-step compounding process: Since the plastic is not solidified and remelted in between, the Reitruder produces the final product in a single continuous process.

Reitruder RZE 85 EXTRUSION
In addition to other new developments, Reifenhäuser presented the co-rotating twin-screw extruder Reitruder RZE 85 as its showpiece at the NPE. A differentiated concept with new design elements was developed. The screw geometry was adapted to new requirements with increased channel depth and a redesigned feed zone. These modifications improve material intake when using PET flakes or regrind and increase the dosing volume for fillers. This provides significant advantages when processing lower-quality raw materials. Increased venting efficiency even allows material with up to 0.5% moisture content to be processed, minimizing pre-drying requirements.
